Understanding Battery Capacity

1. What Does Ah Mean?
   • The amp-hour (Ah) rating indicates how much current a battery can deliver over time. A 17.5 Ah battery can theoretically provide 17.5 amps for one hour, or proportionately longer at lower currents.
     
2. Converting Ah to Watt-Hours (Wh)
   • To calculate how long a battery can run an appliance, we first convert its capacity from amp-hours to watt-hours:Watt Hours Wh =Voltage V ×Amp Hours Ah  
   • For a 48V 17.5 Ah battery: Wh=48V×17.5Ah=840Wh 
     
3. Runtime Calculation Formula
   • The formula to calculate runtime is: Runtime hours = (Battery Capacity Wh) / (Power Consumption W​)
   • For example, if you have a device that consumes 500 watts: Runtime= 840Wh/500W=1.68 hours
